In California different species of palm trees are found. A California fan palm is found growing naturally. In nature it occurs in desert oases in the deserts of southeastern California. It thrives in alkaline soils.
A California fan palm is a very important source of food for Native Americans. They make beverage and make jelly from fruits of this palm.
